Brief History

The Lesmurdie-Mazenod Junior Cricket Club (LMJCC) evolved from the merger of the Lesmurdie Junior Cricket Club and Mazenod Junior Club for the 2010/11 season. Prior to that season, students at Mazenod represented the College in both community and school-based competitions for many decades, winning numerous premierships during these years. Similarly, the Lesmurdie Junior Cricket Club had also previously played in various local competitions, including the Hills Cricket Association, Kalamunda and Districts Junior Cricket Association, Midland-Guildford Junior Cricket Association and into the formation of the South East Metropolitan Junior Cricket Council.

Since the merger, the LMJCC has gone from strength-to-strength in terms of player numbers, volunteers and facilities at Ray Owen Reserve in Lesmurdie. We now provide a consolidated pathway for junior cricketers of all ages and abilities from Junior and Master Blasters through to under 17. We also have a fantastic working relationship with the Lesmurdie-Mazenod (Senior) Cricket Club, to ensure a well-defined pathway for players from junior through to senior Community Cricket, in the greater Lesmurdie area.

Our dedicated group of committee and coaching volunteers oversee about 200 players from our local area, with children from Mazenod College, Lesmurdie Senior High School, St Brigid’s College, as well as Mary’s Mount, Falls Road, Gooseberry Hill, Walliston, Lesmurdie, Pickering Brook and Wattle Grove Primary Schools, representing the club. Our philosophy is to ensure our players enjoy their cricket in a supportive environment that encourages participation and skill development.

We also have excellent connections through to District level cricket, with many of our players in the under 13 to under 17 age groups also representing WACA clubs in the various under-age shield competitions. The LMJCC also hosts masterclass activities and workshops in conjunction to representatives from the WACA and associated District clubs.
